The DS4 are delighted to be returning to the Half Moon, Putney for a very special gig with Lorna Reid and the Ben Cipolla Band on Monday November 16. The DS4's gigs this summer with Lorna in Edinburgh and Glasgow were a sensation. BBC Radio Scotland DJ Billy Sloan, who saw the band at the newly reopened Clutha Bar, played the DS4 single with Lorna Reid, "Coming out of the Rain", on his show the following week, declaring it to be "one of my favourite tracks". This latest reunion between David and Lorna at the Half Moon, with added jazz flavouring from the Ben Cipolla Band will be an event not to be missed. Tickets here & special bundle deal here.

David and the band have done a bunch of intriguing and informative radio interviews and sessions to promote the album 4, which continues to gather amazing reviews. David & Jack dropped in to chat on the Richard Oliff Show on HFM Radio in Leicester. David & Geoff played an acoustic session on the Soft Rock Show with Geoff Dorset & Adrian Collis on Express FM Radio in Portsmouth. And David saw his life flash past in front of his eyes courtesy of Tony Bugbear on Reel Rebels Radio in North London. All these and more can be heard by scrolling down to the "Radio" section of the Press page of the DS4 website, where you will also find all the latest reviews of the album and DS4 gigs. Check it out.

Having headlined at The Borderline in May, the DS4 will return to the venue for the third time this year when they join Ian Prowse & Amsterdam on Saturday November 7. The group first played there in more humble circumstances on February 24, 2006, when they found themselves at the bottom of a bill which also featured the Happiness, Jack Viper and Jebo. The band returned on April 14, 2006 with Great White Hope and again on May 27, 2007 as part of a line-up which also boasted the Sky Pirates and Pezband, the power-pop trio from Chicago. Does anyone know what happened to any of those bands?

For a selection of reviews check the Press page on the DS4 website. The launch show at the Borderline on May 14 was a spectacular success as the band played the album from start to finish to an enthusiastic reception from a full house of industry tastemakers and fans. The new album, 4, is released today. There was an impromptu celebration when David presented finished copies of the CD to the album's producer Livingstone Brown and reggae legend Maxi Priest. Maxi contributed vocals to one of the album's standout tracks "Down by the Canal". 4 is now available to buy at the IRL shop and from all serious online and real world retailers. Don't delay!

The band will play the whole of the new album in sequence at the Borderline with guests including harmonica maestro Laurence Garman (ex-Yardbirds) and Scottish jazz songbird Lorna Reid who sings a duet with David on "Coming Out of the Rain", a song which they wrote together. Lorna will be opening the show with a brief set of her Celtic country songs, followed by the amazing harmony duo Morrissey & Marshall.

Lorna Reid: 7.45pm
Morrissey & Marshall: 8.10pm
DS4: 9.00pm

Inspired by the distinctive artwork on the new album 4, the official dress code for the Borderline gig is yellow. So now is the time to dig out any item of yellow clothing or jewellery that might be languishing in your wardrobe in readiness for the big night out. Ties and ribbons are good. Cycle clips will work at a pinch. Or there is always the DS4 T-shirt option now available here. The band gave a practical demonstration of these sartorial guidelines at their Record Store Day gig last month (blue suede shoes optional).

In other news, George Andrew (bass) and Drew Farmer (drums), the backbone of the band during the early years, met up again last month in Los Angeles. It has been six years since Drew took off on his motorbike after a rehearsal in North Acton, never to return. And two years since George got his green card and took up residence in LA. Drew was on one of his road trips through Mexico and the Southern States when he dropped by to see George.
